St. Francis’ Class (Year 6)

Welcome back after the half term break – myself and Mrs Davis hope that you had an enjoyable break.

With SAT’s on the horizon, it will be a crammed term in Year 6! This term in English, we will complete Journey to the River Sea as our base novel. We shall explore various writing outcomes including play script writing, poetry, diary writing, and biographies.

We will also explore equality as a balanced discussion, inspired by International Women’s Day.

In Maths, we will study Ratio, Proportion and Algebra as well as lots of reasoning as we apply our maths skills to practical situations.

In Science, we will focus on the theme of Animals and Humans. We will investigate various body systems and healthy living using scientific criteria.

We will complete the topic of war and its effects and progress to focus on South America. Discussion will also focus on the effects of Natural Resource pressure on the Human Geography of Venezuela. PE this term be football and netball, and will take place outside on Monday and/or Friday afternoons. Please ensure that your children have their full PE kit.

Please also ask your children to continue to wear coats to school. Rain, cold winds and frost are still in the forecast!
