St. Michael’s Class (Year 1)
We hope you had an enjoyable Christmas and we wish you a Happy New Year.
Welcome back to the Spring term, we look forward to learning lots of new facts and skills this term. Our topic is ‘Toys’ so will we be looking at toys over the years and sorting/ordering them. This fits in nicely with our science theme of ‘Materials’. The children will be making a toy in D.T incorporating their knowledge of toys and materials as well as writing instructions for how to make them in English. In maths the children will be learning about multiplication and division, measure (time, length and height) and fractions.
We would like to remind you that it is very important to read with your child and record this in their yellow book. If your child hasn’t read they will be unable to change their book (book changing days are Mon, Wed and Fri). We are really pleased with the children’s confidence with their times tables tests, please continue to practise at home (using the sheets provided). The test takes place every Monday morning.
Any questions please catch us at the end of the day or make an appointment through the office. We look forward to working with you again this term.
