St. Simon Stock Class (Year 3)
I hope we've all had a fantastic Easter break and are looking forward to our last two terms in Year 3.
This term we will be learning about extreme weather across the world and the affects on humans. In English we will be completing an explanation text on growing plants as well as investigating plants in Science. I am also hoping that we will be able to grow some plants with the help from Mrs Collins.
In Maths, we will be continuing learning fractions, in particular looking at equivalent fractions. We will also be looking at geometry. We have recently started Mathletics and I will be assigning new tasks every Monday to be completed within the week. Children are encouraged to complete their own choice activities after they have finished their assignments
Our R.E project this term is Celebrating Easter and Pentecost.
Homework will be given out every Friday to be returned every Monday. Spellings are given out on a Thursday and children are tested the following Tuesday.
A great iPhone/iPad app you can personalise by typing in their weekly spellings to make practising fun is:
Squeebles Spelling Test
Times tables are tested on Wednesday. Children should practise their times tables facts regularly at home in order to progress. At the end of Year 3 children must know all their 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 times tables.
A useful website for practise is: www.multiplication.com
There are also excellent iPad apps available such as:
Squeebles Times Tables
10 minute a day times tables.
Please listen to your child read every night and thank you for your continued support with their spellings and times tables.
