St. Francis’ Class (Year 6)
Our class mission in Year 6 is to believe in ourselves and others.
We will never give up and keep trying, especially when things are difficult.
We will keep our consciences clear by making the right choices.
We will demonstrate compassion by being sympathetic and kind towards others.
We will reject lies, let go of insults and have faith in Jesus, others and ourselves.
Welcome back after the half term break – myself and Mrs Law hope that you had an enjoyable break.
With Christmas on the horizon, it will be a crammed term in Year 6! This term in English, we will complete Tom’s Midnight Garden as our base novel. We shall explore various writing outcomes including settings, reports, narrative, persuasive leaflets and Christmas poetry.
In Maths, we will complete the four main operations and move onto to the many aspects of Fractions as well as lots of reasoning as we apply our maths skills to practical situations.
In Science, we will complete the focus on Light and begin the topic of Animals Including Humans. We will investigate various body systems and healthy living using scientific criteria.
We will complete our topic on 'Britain since 1948', taking a decade-by-decade look at the countless technological, social and political developments in Britain over this period. PE this term be Badminton and Multi-Skills, and will take place outside on Tuesday and Friday afternoons. Please ensure that your children have their full PE kit.
Please also ask your children to remember to wear coats to school. Rain, cold winds and frost are in the forecast!
