St. Francis’ Class (Year 6)
Our class mission in Year 6 is to believe in ourselves and others.
We will never give up and keep trying, especially when things are difficult.
We will keep our consciences clear by making the right choices.
We will demonstrate compassion by being sympathetic and kind towards others.
We will reject lies, let go of insults and have faith in Jesus, others and ourselves.
Welcome back after the Summer break – myself Mrs Law and Mrs Davis hope that you enjoyed a refreshing summer, whatever you did and wherever you went.
This is term 1 for Year 6 – it’s hard to believe that the school year has arrived once again! This term will last for 7 weeks and the last day will be Friday 21st of October, returning for term 2 on Monday 31st of October.
In English, we will study Tom’s Midnight Garden as our base novel and explore several writing outcomes including letter writing, poetry, diary writing, descriptive and persuasive writing.
In Maths, we will study place value and the four operations.
In Science, we will focus on the theme of Light. We will investigate properties of light using scientific methodology.
Our topic this term will be a historical investigation of the latter stages of World War 2 and how Britain was rebuilt. PE this term will focus on Hockey and Basketball. It will take place on Tuesday and Friday afternoons. The pupils will go home in PE kit on these days so it can be washed. Please ensure that your children arrive at school on Tuesday mornings with their full PE kit.
