St. Michael’s Class (Year 1)

Welcome back to the last school term, term 6!   We don’t know about you but we are not sure where this year has gone and soon St. Michael’s will become St. Bernadette’s!

During this term, the children will learn about ‘Going for Gold’ and will look at how life can take different journeys.  This will be explored through geographical maps, as well as personal journeys and what you learn along the way is what makes it all worthwhile. They will also learn about the acts of miracles through Jesus.  We will encourage the children to always have hope, trust and courage in their life so anything is possible.

The children will continue to be taught how to play cricket during P.E so make sure your child has the appropriate clothing as the weather is always changing! They will also begin Athletics and start preparing for our annual sports day.

The computing unit is called ‘We are celebrating’ where the children will be creating their own digital content, organising and manipulating both text and images for the purpose of making greeting cards. If you have any hard copies from events in their lives then please feel free to bring them in and we will add them to our display.

Please remember to provide your child with a water bottle daily and provide a sun hat for when the weather improves.

Phonic screening test will commence on the week beginning the 10th June 2019.

We thank you for your continued support with reading, handwriting, phonics and maths homework and look forward to another successful term of learning!
