Support for Children’s Health & Wellbeing
At St. Benedict’s, we are committed to supporting the whole child. Guided by our Catholic values we strive to ensure every child feels safe, valued and supported.
We believe that children flourish when their emotional, physical and mental wellbeing is nurtured alongside their learning. Through our caring and inclusive community, we encourage pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence, while showing compassion and respect for others.
This page provides information, guidance and links to services that can support you and your child both in school and at home.
Child Health Services in Medway
We are committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of all our students. We work closely with local services, including Medway Community Healthcare, to help families access the right support when it is needed.
Medway’s Child Health Service provides a wide range of support for children and young people from birth to 18 years. These services are designed to promote healthy development and wellbeing, offering advice, assessments, and specialist support where required.
Families can access support through a variety of professionals, including health visitors, school nurses, and specialist teams. The service also works with schools and other organisations to ensure children and young people receive coordinated, high-quality care that meets their individual needs.
If you have any concerns about your child’s health or wellbeing, please speak to the school office or your child’s teacher. We are here to listen and guide you towards the most appropriate support.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Resources
As part of our commitment to Love, Compassion and Resilience, we recognise the importance of supporting children’s mental health and emotional wellbeing. The websites below offer guidance on a wide range of topics, from understanding emotions and building resilience to accessing professional support when needed. They can be a helpful starting point for both parents and students looking for information or reassurance.
Mental Health Foundation NSPCC The Education Hub
Throughout the school year, we recognise and take part in a number of important national awareness events that encourage open conversations about mental health and highlight ways we can all look after our wellbeing. These events, including World Mental Health Day, Children’s Mental Health Week, and Mental Health Awareness Week, help children to develop confidence and resilience while promoting positive wellbeing.
Wellbeing Apps and Online Tools
To further support independence and positive wellbeing habits at home, the following apps and online tools may be helpful for children and families:
-
Headspace – A popular mindfulness app that supports relaxation and wellbeing, helping users feel calmer and more focused through short, guided meditation sessions.
-
Kooth – A free, safe and anonymous online counselling and emotional wellbeing platform for children and young people. It can be accessed on mobile, tablet or desktop and offers professional support, advice, and resources.
-
Colorfy – A creative colouring app designed to promote relaxation and mindfulness. Based on the idea that colouring can create a calming, “flow” state, it allows users to colour pre-made designs or create their own.
