ST. FRANCIS’ CLASS (YEAR 6)
Welcome
Our class mission in Year 6 is to believe in ourselves and others.
We will never give up and keep trying, especially when things are difficult.
We will keep our consciences clear by making the right choices.
We will demonstrate compassion by being sympathetic and kind towards others.
We will reject lies, let go of insults and have faith in Jesus, others and ourselves.
Welcome back and Happy New Year to you all!
Mrs. Law and I hope that you have all enjoyed a well-deserved Christmas break and feel well-rested.
It’s a busy term in Year 6 and we have a lot to look forward to. This term in English, we will begin by exploring works by William Shakespeare and writing our own playscripts. We will then be using ‘Journey to the River Sea’ as our base novel. We shall explore various writing outcomes including informal writing, poetry and diary writing.
In Maths, we will study measurement, decimals, percentages, algebra and ratio.
Classification of living things and microorganisms will be our Science focus. We will learn about the Linnaeus classification system and classify living things, including microorganisms.
After an enjoyable look at Britain since 1948, we will move on to our new Geography topic of South America, focusing on its human and physical geographical features. PE this term be netball and tag rugby, and will continue to take place on Tuesday and Friday afternoons. Please ensure that your children arrive at school on these days with their full PE kit.
Thank you for your continued support. If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact the office.
