Our class mission in Year 6 is to believe in ourselves and others.
We will never give up and keep trying, especially when things are difficult.
We will keep our consciences clear by making the right choices.
We will demonstrate compassion by being sympathetic and kind towards others.
We will reject lies, let go of insults and have faith in Jesus, others and ourselves.
Welcome back after half term – myself and Mrs. Law hope that you had an enjoyable break.
With SATs on the horizon, it will be a crammed term in Year 6!
In English, we will complete Journey to the River Sea as our base novel; exploring various writing outcomes; and in Maths, we will continue to study fractions, decimals and percentages alongside area, perimeter, volume and statistics. As well as this, we will be focusing on lots of reasoning as we apply our maths skills to practical situations.
In Science, we will continue to investigate the Linnean system of classification and various micro-organisms. Engineers will also be joining us in class as we begin to consider the application of our electricity knowledge to the construction of our Year 6 battery-powered Go-Kart. We plan to race this later in the school calendar against other schools.
We will also be continuing to explore South America and its rich history. Discussion will primarily focus on the mystery of the Maya. Through exploring different sources and artefacts, we will learn all about this ancient civilisation.
PE this term will be Kwik Cricket and Dance, and will take place on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Please ensure that your children have their full PE kit.
Please also ask your children to continue to wear coats to school. Rain, cold winds and frost are still in the forecast!
Thank you for your continued support. If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact me via the school office.
