ST. FRANCIS’ CLASS (YEAR 6)

Welcome

Our class mission in Year 6 is to believe in ourselves and others.

We will never give up and keep trying, especially when things are difficult.

We will keep our consciences clear by making the right choices.

We will demonstrate compassion by being sympathetic and kind towards others.

We will reject lies, let go of insults and have faith in Jesus, others and ourselves.

Welcome back after the May half-term break!

This is term 6 for Year 6 – SATs are finally over! This half term will last for seven weeks and will finish on Friday 19th of July.

The term has some exciting educational visits to enjoy. Six of our best Go-Kart drivers will visit Borg Warner on Sunday 30th of June to represent St. Benedict’s at the Young Eco Engineers event. We are also incredibly excited for our residential at PGL in Marchants Hill, Surrey on 19th to the 21st of June for lots of fun team-building games and activities!

In English, our driver text is ‘Rooftoppers’ by Katherin Rundell. We will explore persuasive devices and recounts and biography within non-fiction. Our fictional focus is fantasy writing, characterisation and alternative resolutions.

In Maths, we will conduct various numerical investigations involving data handling, position and measurements.

The focus in RE will be investigating how the transforming Holy Spirit enables us to fulfil our responsibilities as we are called to serve Jesus.

In Science, we will complete our focus on animals and humans. We will investigate the theory of evolution and inheritance.

We will complete our European Neighbours topic and centre our attention on the cities of Paris and London.

PE this term covers athletics and Sports Day preparation. It will take place outside on Monday and Thursday afternoons. Please ensure that your children arrive at school on these mornings with their full PE kit.
