‘At the athletics, 19 members of my class competed in many races and events. Firstly, we did a warm up and an obstacle course followed by relay races (either 1,2 or 3 laps) and javelin. Some of us were doing chest pushes and stand jumping. We also did some other obstacle courses which involved going into tunnels and side jumps. Then for the last four races we took part in even more relay races. We did very well coming 1st place twice and 2 nd place six times. We enjoyed all of the races and events and we had lots of fun and would like to do it again. Go St. Benedict’s! (Written by Imole and Setfree Year 5)
Young voices was an unforgettable experience that the St. Francis Class of 2022-23 were fortunate to experience! Our sole purpose there was to ‘sing from our hearts’ and it was evidently clear that we smashed that task! Overwhelmingly, the majority of our stomachs and insides were excited with nerves, but we all had a giggle at the sight of Mr Hunter in ‘contemplation’ in rehearsal. A favourite performance would most definitely be violinist Anna Phoebe and her melodic tunes. We unreservedly recommend this experience to everyone! Kome Year 6
At the astonishingly large O2 Arena, we performed a huge concert with many other schools. We all sang a variety of songs such as ‘We are family’ and watched some other fabulous performances like a magnificent street -dancing group (the Urban Strides) and a phenomenal violinist. Our favourite event by far was the incredible, unearthly ‘Beatbox Collective’; the performers created dazzling beats with just their mouths! Pure talent! Over all, it was a phenomenal experience that we would absolutely love to do again! Adam S. Year 6
Year 4 children visited the Gurdwara Sikh Temple in Rochester on Monday. They learnt about the faith and their special celebrations. Year 4 were made most welcome and were given refreshments and sweets.
Wednesday 8th December 2021 - Guest Speaker Joanna Waller (Youth Vincentians Development Officer for Southwark Diocese)
KS2 enjoyed an assembly all about the work of Mini Vinnies led by our visiting speaker Joanna Waller (Youth Vincentians Development Officer for Southwark Diocese). We learnt how Mini Vinnies turn concern into action using the moto ‘see – think – do’. After the assembly, Joanna spent time with our new team of Mini Vinnies and the children shared ways they have already helped people in need and their plans for the rest of this year.
