ST. MICHAEL’S CLASS (YEAR 1)

Welcome!

Mission Statement

We will always try our best.

We will be kind, friendly and helpful.

We will be like St Michael and be brave and confident.

Welcome back to Term 5, the year really does seem to be flying by!  We hope you all had wonderful and restful Easter break.

This term our topic is ‘The Seaside’ and will take on a predominately geographical theme.  We are very excited about teaching this topic!  Please also take a look at the curriculum overview to see what else the children will be learning this term.

PE will revert back to its original place on Tuesday’s and this term we will be doing ‘Quick Cricket’.  We aim to get outside whenever possible; so please ensure your child has appropriate outdoor garments in their bag including a suitable change of footwear.  If your child wears tights as part of their school uniform then please include a pair of socks for them to change into.

Just a reminder that Forest School will continue to be on a Thursday afternoon. As the weather is still unpredictable, please could the children arrive in multiple thin layers of Forest School clothes wearing their school shoes and a coat.  Please put a waterproof jacket, trousers or suit in a plastic bag, these will be put on after lunch.  A pair of named wellies will stay in school.

We appreciate all of the reading that you are doing at home with your children.  The reading books will continue to be changed every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Please ensure your child has their reading book and reading contact book in school every day so that we may have the opportunity to hear them read as well.

Homework will continue to be posted on the Dojos class story every Friday.

Thank you for your continued support.

Mrs Blackman, Mrs Stanton and Mrs Harwood.
