ST. THERESE’S CLASS (YEAR 4)

Welcome!

Mission Statement

In Year 4, our class will have faith in God and follow the teachings of Jesus.

We will always be truthful, honest, trustworthy and take responsibility for our actions.

We will forgive others, say sorry and ask for forgiveness when we make wrong choices.

We will love one another and treat each other respectfully, showing compassion.

We will always strive to do our best and be resilient.

Welcome back! I hope that everyone had a lovely Easter, did lots of enjoyable things and that we are now refreshed and ready for a busy Summer Term.

Our topic will be ‘Extreme Earth’ and the children will be learning all about the Earth’s layers, its tectonic plates, as well as volcanoes, earthquakes and how mountains are formed. We will be looking at ‘Animals including Humans’ in Science. This will provide opportunities for the children to explore our digestive system, understanding what happens to food from the moment it enters our bodies to when, and how, it leaves!

In our English sessions, the children will be reading the beautifully atmospheric, Carnegie Medal winning book ‘Storm’. We will be gripped by Annie’s story of one terrible night. Will she be brave and battle the storm to fetch help?

In Maths, we will be continuing to learn about decimals as well as looking at measurement, specifically money and time. It would also be fantastic if you could continue to practise times tables at home with your children.

For your information:

P.E. will continue to be on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.

Homework will still be posted onto Class Dojo on a Friday, with homework to be completed by the following Friday.

Spellings and Times Tables Tests will continue to be on Thursdays.

Ukulele lessons will also continue to be on a Monday afternoon so children need to remember to bring in their instruments. Can you please encourage your children to practise at home?

Thank you for your continued support. If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact me via the office.

Mrs King
